Jon Abbate, Owner
Jon was born in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and grew up in Marietta, Georgia, where he attended Carl Harrison High School. From a young age, Jon was a dedicated sports, health and fitness fanatic. His senior season, he was the state of Georgia's leading tackler with 207 total, averaging more than 15 tackles a game. He went on to become a star linebacker and All-American, All-ACC College Football Player who helped lead his Wake Forest team to their first ACC Championship in 36 years. That team and Jon’s role in their miraculous season was the subject of the 2011 feature film The Fifth Quarter.
After his collegiate career, Jon went on to play professional football for several years. He began by playing in the NFL for the Houston Texans and finished his football career playing in the startup UFL franchise, the California Redwoods. During his years as a professional athlete Jon researched and became familiar with a number of health and fitness related techniques and modalities used by some of the nation’s top trainers and sports health professionals.
After completing his bachelor’s degree at Wake Forest, Jon continued to pursue his passion for athletics and became a trainer for aspiring young athletes. Since 2013, he has been an Orthopedic Equipment Sales Manager for Arthrex. Throughout his career as an athlete, trainer and orthopedic sales professional, Jon has always sought out the most advanced and successful methods and technologies to help heal and maintain bodily health.
Jon has chosen to become a partner in Abbate Cryotherapy Clinics because he has seen and experienced first-hand the incredible healing and anti-inflammatory properties that cryotherapy provides for people of all ages, activity level and injury types. He believes his clients will see similar positive results.
